POWER PALLET TRUCK

This type of truck requires separate certification for pedestrian and certification for ride on modes by Law.
There are multiple levels of training available.
Beginner - Recertification - Experienced - Test Only

Beginner course is designed for new operators with no experience in Lift Trucks.
Recertification is designed for operators who are certified but require to update their certificate
Experienced course is designed for operators who have experience and require certification.
Test Only is for operators who may feel that they have sufficient training and only require the retest to update their certification.

 

Beginner Power Pallet Truck

Course Aim
To give the course participants the knowledge and skills needed for the safe and effective operation of a Power Pallet Truck.

Course Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
o Carry out Driver Daily Checks.
o Recharge Trucks safely.
o Assist in battery maintenance.
o Operate the truck in a safe and correct manner.
o Understand Load Safety and stability principles.
o Understand Loading and Unloading vehicles Best Practice.
o Recognise dangers and hazards associated with the use of Lift Trucks.
o Understand Load Capacity in relation to both Lift Trucks and truck tail lifts.

Recommended for
The course is intended for those who wish to utilise Power Pallet Trucks in their career or Truck drivers who may be required to operate a Power Pallet Truck by the client.

Course Contents
o The Law - Statute law and Rider Operator code of practice.
o Daily Inspections - Performance and Documentation.
o The Stability Triangle and Load Stability.
o Safe Operation Techniques.
o Loading and Unloading principles.
o Care and Maintenance.
o Charging and Batteries Safety.
o Hazards and Danger recognition.

Assessment
The course will consist of both theoretical and Practical exam.

Theoretical exam consists of 20 operating and Safety questions. The pass rate of 80% must be attained before progression to the Practical test.

Practical test consists of specifically coordinated movements and Safety techniques. The Learner begins at a score of 100 and points are reduced for errors. The Learner must achieve 80% to pass.

The course is successfully completed when both theoretical and Practical exams have been achieved.

Duration
Beginners course - 1 day consisting of full time attendance.
Evening Courses Available - 3 x 3hr lessons.

Accreditation
Full RTITB certification is provided on successful completion of the course.


 

 

Re-Certification Power Pallet Truck

Course Aim
To give the course participants the knowledge and skills needed to regain certification for a Power Pallet Truck.

Course Objectives
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
o Carry out Driver Daily Checks.
o Recharge Forklifts safely.
o Assist in battery maintenance.
o Operate the truck in a safe and correct manner.
o Operate the Power Pallet truck in a more effective and efficient manner reducing damages and injuries.
o Understand Load Safety and stability principles.
o Understand Loading and Unloading vehicles Best Practice.
o Recognise dangers and hazards associated with the use of Lift Trucks.
o Understand Load Capacity in relation to both Lift Trucks and Truck Tail Lifts.

Recommended for
The course is intended for those who wish to renew their current certificate to the legal standard recomendation.

Test Only Power Pallet Truck

Recommended for
This option is intended for those who who have recently completed training and or feel that they have sufficient knowledge to operate a Power Pallet truck to the required safety standard as per the HSA recommendations and standards.

Assessment
The Test will consist of both theoretical and Practical exam.

Theoretical exam consists of 20 operating and Safety questions. The pass rate of 80% must be attained before progression to the Practical test.

Practical test consists of specifically coordinated movements and Safety techniques. The Learner begins at a score of 100 and points are reduced for errors. The Learner must achieve 80% to pass.

The course is successfully completed when both theoretical and Practical exams have been achieved.

1 Participant per Truck and per Instructor for test only

Duration
Test Only Participants should be aware the time allowance for testing can be up to one hour between tests.
Evening Test Available 1hr test period.

Accreditation
Full WTS certification is provided on successful completion of the tests.

Note :
The assessors opinion is final and based on a score rating process. Failure to achieve the desired rate of 80% will result in no certificate issued. A repeat test can be arranged at a reduced rate.
